In 2007 Breitling introduced the latest evolution of its Superocean - the Superocean Heritage diver's watch. The initial Breitling Superocean was released back in 1957. It represented a diver's watch housed in a monohull case and provided with armored glass that guaranteed 200-meter water resistance, a real technical accomplishment at that time. The Breitling Superocean was developed specially for professional and military divers, including special troops. The Breitling watch model soon became highly demanded among those who enjoyed leisure diving. Over time, the Breitling watch company has enriched this iconic watch line with innovative models. The line presently comprises *** as well as chronograph versions of the Breitling Superocean characterized by 500-meter, 1,500-meter and even 2,000-meter water resistance.
Breitling for Bentley Flying B
The over-sized case of the Breitling watch (38.5 x 57.3 mm in diameter) sports cambered rectangular lines and original play on angles and curves, hinting at the elegance of a coupe or cabriolet automobile model. The Breitling watch-makers wanted to create the timepiece that would be immediately noticed on the wrist of its owner. The rectangular design, the first in the collection, is not the only surprising feature of the Breitling for Bentley Flying B. The watch is special for its original display mode. The Breitling watch incorporates the jumping hour mechanism with the hour hand replaced by a disc positioned at 12 o'clock. As for the minutes, they are read off in a more traditional way.Breitling added to its legendary Breitling for Bentley collection with an unconventionally designed rectangular-shaped watch featuring an original design. The exceptional Breitling watch pays tribute to the 'winged B', the renowned British manufacturer's historical emblem. A Bentley car found on the list of most prestigious automobile marques in the world may be compared to a real work of art produced with meticulous attention to detail. The Breitling for Bentley Flying B watch was created as a luxurious and sophisticated timepiece.

Review of the Seiko Velatura SRH005
Anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Date at the 6 o'clock position, and a retrograde day indicator. Stainless steel case and bracelet. Three-fold clasp with push-button release. Very bright LumiBrite paint on the hour hand, minute hand, and on the hour indices. Recessed reset button in case the integrated circuit ever needs a quick reboot. Automatic hand alignment which ensures that the power indicator hand is always accurate (calibration occurs every 24 hours). Water resistant to 10 bar, 100 meters, or 330 feet. The Seiko Velatura line is designed to be a marine and yachting collection. While two Velaturas have yachting timers (the SPC005 and the SPC007), the affiliation of the SRH005 to the world of yachting is a bit more indirect. The movement can be wound without pulling out the crown which keeps the internals of the handbags safe from moisture. Additionally, the bezel screws, crown guards, caseback, and the elegant design of the dial are all reminiscent of yachting instruments. So far, I have found that people are either drawn to the unique bracelet design of the SRH005, or they don't care for it. Personally, I love it. I love distinguishing and unique watches, and the black urethane that covers the center links of the bracelet really make it stand out. Maybe it's the suggestion of a checkered pattern or a racing stripe, but it also somehow conveys the sense of speed to me.The Seiko Velatura SRH005 is a big, elegant, and satisfying mon handbags. If all you're looking for is something to tell time, the Velatura is obviously overkill. But if you're looking for something unique, fun, and even a little personal, give a Velatura a try. MSRP on the SRH005 is $1,195.This watch was generously provided by Fashion Time.View the Seiko Velatura SRH005 photo gallery. There are six segments indicating up to six hours of newly generated power. When you stop winding, the power indicator drops down for four seconds to show you how much power you just generated, then it moves down to the zero position, then back up to show how much total power is in the reserve. At this point, the power indicator hand is using the total power scale (from zero to one month). It sounds complicated, but once you understand it and see it work, it's pretty intuitive, and even a little addictive.Seiko seems to be well aware of the effect Kinetic movements have on us as they refer to their new Direct Drive as "emotional technology". The Kinetic Direct Drive is more like building your own fire as opposed to flipping a switch on a natural gas fireplace. It's a bit more work, but something about it makes it a bit more satisfying, as well. Playing a direct role in keeping your handbag happily running gives us watch aficionados a great excuse to spend more time playing with the things we love.Features of the Seiko Velatura SRH005 include: Seiko's new Direct Drive Kinetic movement. The watch can be charged manually by hand winding it, and it charges naturally as the movement of your arm rotates an internal rotor.
Review of the Seiko Velatura SRH005
The procedure is certainly much more natural and subtle than the martini shaking motion of the past. The Seiko Kinetic Direct Drive takes what I love about Kinetic movements to the next level by *** the charging process not just active, but actually interactive. Shortly after you start turning the drive wheel to charge the watch, the power reserve indicator jumps to life and turns into a real-time power generation indicator. It's a bit like a Kinetic tachometer, you might say. Here's how it works: As you manually wind the handbags, the power indicator shows you how much power you are currently generating using the grayish scale to the left and inside the total power scale. If you watch carefully, you will notice that the low point at which the hand starts will gradually begin to rise, indicating how much power you have generated thus far (every five seconds of winding generates one hour of power).View the Seiko Velatura SRH005 photo gallery.I've always been a big fan Seiko Kinetic watches. There's something about generating power through physical movement that I somehow find more intriguing than a static and stationary solar cell. I like how you can hear the rotor turn, and even feel the friction that generates the power. And I like how the power reserve indicator let you know if you've been giving your Seiko Kinetic enough wrist time. It may sound strange, but there's something a little more alive about a Kinetic man watches than its solar or battery powered counterparts. With the introduction of the new Kinetic Direct Drive movement which appears in four of Seiko's new Velatura watches (two available in the US — the SRH001 and the SRH005), the Kinetic experience gets even more interesting. Kinetic Direct Drive movements allow the nice watches to be "hand wound". Before the Direct Drive, there were three ways to charge your Seiko Kinetic: Wave it back and forth for a minute or two to spin the rotor. Anyone who has ever owned a Kinetic is probably familiar with this motion. Wear it. Daily use is more than enough to keep a Kinetic watch sufficiently charged. It's only when you have a Kinetic that is part of an extensive watch rotation that you have to concern yourself with keeping it charged. Place it on a Kinetic charging unit. You can buy charging stands which conduct power directly into the capacitor through the case and dial of the watch to essentially "quick charge" it.But now with the Kinetic Direct Drive, you can charge the capacitor directly simply by turning the driving wheel.
Rado Invents the World's Hardest Watch: the Rado V10K
The rest of the luxury watches, however, is decidedly non-standard. Using a furnace capable of recreating the atmosphericpressure of Jupiter, Rado actually coats the case of the V10K with synthetic diamonds. If diamonds are the hardest substance in the world, the only way to build a trulyscratch-proof watch is to actually use diamonds to coat it.It's nice to see that Rado did not sacrifice aesthetics to achieve this amazingfeat. While the V10K is certainly an unconventional watches brand, it is also ***, stark, and stunning. It's so *** and stark, in fact, that it doesn't even have a crownto interrupt the flow of its form. Rather, the watch is adjusted by placing a magneticdevice which is integrated into the strap against the caseback -- at once, bothhigh-tech and retro (remember the Pulsar LEDs of the 70's?).The Rado V10K contains a Swiss quartz movement. It's is water resistant, and comeswith a 2-year guarantee. Pricing is available upon request.Swiss watchmaker Rado has been obsessing over highly scratch resistant my watches for over 40 years, and now it looks like they have truly outdone themselves withthe RadoV10K. The name "V10K" comes from 10,000 Vickers. Vickers area measurement of hardness and resistance, and 10,000 is the top of the scale --achieved only by diamonds, and now, by the Rado V10K.Some of the materials that go into the Rado V10K are fairly standard: titaniumcaseback and clasp (extremely strong and lightweight), sapphire crystal, and arubber strap (available in black, orange, red, and blue).
Review of the Oceanus 5 Motor (OCW600TDA
Synthetic sapphire crystal. A sapphire crystal (virtually scratch-proof) is not something you see everyday on a Casio, but on an Oceanus, it's standard. Water resistant up to 100 meters, or about 330 feet.On top of being a functional, sturdy, and a nice looking timepiece, the Oceanus 5 Motor is exceedingly comfortable. I've been wearing it for several days now, and it has a way of *** you forget it's there. The titanium case and bracelet keep it lightweight, and the contour of the case keeps it perched properly on top of my narrow wrist. Speaking of titanium, I've had trouble in the past getting titanium atomic watches to calibrate, possibly because it's more difficult for the signal to penetrate titanium than plastic, however the Oceanus 5 Motor has no difficulty receiving a signal from San Francisco. (Disclaimer: I can only vouch for signal reception in San Francisco -- as with all atomic seiko for you, your mileage may very depending on where you live.)Although I've been very happy with the Oceanus 5 Motor, there are a couple of minor issues. First, it doesn't have any type of lighting system other than luminescent paint on the hands and hour markers. Although I've found that the luminosity does last all night (this was easy to test because between kids, earthquakes, and general city cacophony, I'm awakened at all hours of the night), I wouldn't mind seeing the 5 Motor outfitted with the same LED illumination system as the Oceanus Chronograph. The 5 motor is also not the easiest watch to get the hang of. I'm a seiko online geek, so I picked it up pretty quickly, but for some, there will be a fairly steep learning curve. Fortunately, there's a little cheat sheet etched in the back of the case next to the pushers in the form of ALM (alarm), WT (world time), ADJ (adjust), and CHR (chronograph) to remind you which buttons do what, so you can always refresh your memory while standing in line at the DMV.The Oceanus 5 Motor retails for $580 MSRP, and can be purchased at several retail outlets, and here and there online. Additional resources: View the Oceanus 5 Motor photo gallery. The Oceanus website. The Oceanus 5 Motor instruction manual (PDF). Since the world time feature uses a subdial, when the watch is in world time mode, you can actually see the time in both your home time zone, and in the secondary time zone simultaneously. Time transfer function. The time transfer function allows you to swap time zones between your home time zone and the nice seiko's secondary time zone. For instance, if your home time zone is LAX and your secondary time zone is Tokyo, and you travel to Tokyo, you can easily reverse your home and secondary time zones so that your home time zone is Tokyo, and your secondary time zone is LAX. When you head home, just invert them again. (I first discovered this feature with the Seiko Sportura SNJ005 and later with the Tissot T-Navigator 3000.) Chronograph. The Oceanus 5 Motor has a stopwatch with a resolution of 1/20th of a second, capable of measuring elapsed times up to 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59.95 seconds. The stopwatch's second hand is the third primary hand (which is usually the second hand on analog watches without chronographs), and the subdial at the six o'clock position which normally measures seconds in timekeeping mode measures fractions of a second in chronograph mode (only for the first 60 seconds). Daily alarm. When in alarm mode, the world time subdial allows you to set a single daily alarm. Automatic calendar (through the year 2099). 24-hour subdial at the 9 o'clock position. Tachometer. Titanium case and bracelet (also available with a black leather strap) .
Review of the Oceanus 5 Motor (OCW600TDA
Features of the Oceanus 5 Motor include: Atomic timekeeping. The Oceanus watches will pick up time calibration signals transmitted in the US (Fort Collins, CO) and Japan. It will try to calibrate up to six times per day at predefined times during the wee hours of the morning, and the watch can also be placed in calibration mode manually. If you're in an area where you can't receive a time calibration signal, Oceanus nice bell & ross can also be set manually. Solar powered. All Oceanus watches have solar cells which recharge batteries capable of keeping them running for up to four months when fully charged. The Oceanus 5 Motor has a low power indicator to let you know when you haven't been spending enough time in the sun. World time. The subdial between the 2 and 3 o'clock positions is a 24-hour dial with both hour and minute hands to display the time in 27 cities (29 different time zones). 30 different time zone options expressed as either city abbreviations or GMT offsets are printed around the perimeter of the dial, and switching between them is as easy as pushing the lower right-hand button (the chronograph's second hand moves to the currently selected city). View the Oceanus 5 Motor photo gallery.Oceanus seems to represent Casio's desire to creep upmarket in the US. In Japan, you can actually drop over $1,000 on a high-end Casio G-Shock, but to most Americans, the brand Casio usually means geeky at best, and cheap at worst. Frequent readers of Watch Report know better, however. In my opinion, Casio makes some of the most technologically advanced, rugged, and interesting digital watches available. But since Casio doesn't have time to wait for seiko Report to enlighten the entire American watch-buying public, they have repackaged their ingenuity into a shiny new brand: Oceanus.I do think Oceanus watches are deserving of a brand all their own. With features that go beyond even my favorite US G-Shocks (titanium construction, handsome, low-profile cases, sapphire crystals), they deserve a chance to make their own way in the market. The Oceanus 5 Motor is a further refinement of the Oceanus line. It boasts most of the features of the Oceanus Chronograph, but without the LCD in the 3 o'clock position. Why was Casio motivated to completely remove the LCD and figure out how to cram five individual motors into a single case? The point of the Oceanus 5 Motor is that it's a geeky watch that doesn't look like a geeky watch, so the fewer LCDs and LEDs, the better. The downside of removing the LCD is that the watch gets slightly more complicated. The unit I received didn't come with an instruction manual, and after about 10 minutes of playing with buttons and watching the seven hands (seven!) spin and reel, I headed online to hunt down a PDF version of the booklet. Fortunately, with a little guidance, I found the 5 Motor fairly easy to use, however if you're the type who refuses to read manuals, you probably won't get the most out of this bell & ross.
